Value Your Trade
When you buy a new vehicle, you may want to consider trading in your current vehicle to save some money. If you owe less than any loans on your current vehicle, you can use the difference toward the cost of a new vehicle. When valuing your trade, you’ll want to compare offers to ensure that you get the best value for your existing vehicle. Boch Chevrolet wants your trade-in vehicle and is willing to give you the best price possible to make that happen. Here’s how we value your trade.
How To Trade In Your Vehicle
The first step in trading in your vehicle at our dealership is to get your vehicle’s estimated trade-in value. You can enter your vehicle’s year, make, model, and trim on Boch Chevrolet’s online Value Your Trade tool to receive its estimated trade-in value. Other factors that we consider include the overall condition and mileage, but an online tool will provide you with a good starting point. You can also use Kelly Blue Book or Edmunds car appraisal tool to get an idea of what you could get for your vehicle when you trade it in.
After researching your vehicle’s trade-in value, you need to determine whether you still owe money on your loan. You can skip this step if your car loan is fully paid. If you’re unsure about how much you owe on your vehicle loan, it’s best to check before heading out to the dealership.
You may find that you owe more than your vehicle’s current value. When this happens, it’s called being upside down on your vehicle loan. If this is the case, you could be responsible for paying the difference between your loan amount and the vehicle value, even after a trade-in. Some dealerships will make you a deal to include the overage by adding it to your new vehicle purchase price. Either way, it’s best to know your loan situation before starting a trade.
You can take your vehicle to an area dealership to get an appraisal. You have a better chance of getting the best price if you get estimates from several area dealerships. We highly recommend that you schedule an appointment for an appraisal, as we often only have one staff member available to perform this task. Once the appraisal is complete, we’ll make an offer on your vehicle. If the offer doesn’t match what you had in mind, we can negotiate your trade-in price before closing the deal. At Boch Chevrolet, we offer top dollar for trades of all kinds.
